Type 1 Diabetes by Stem Cell Transplant: a Case Presentation

Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes is common in children and young people. Type 1 diabetes is due to the not enough insulin in your body. Insulin is a hormone which can move blood sugar into cells, where it is stored and later used for energy. When a person develops type 1 diabetes, insulin is not enough in the body which can cause a lot of symptoms including high blood sugar, abnormal huger, more drinking, extreme thirst, and frequent urination.

Case Presentation:

A 3-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital for dry month, excessive urination and fever for two days. There are no other symptoms or illness history. The physical examination indicates he had a normal and healthy development. There was no special smell. He had a congestionofthroat and enlarged tonsil. His blood sugar was 29.9mmol/l.Urinalysis indicated glucose +++, Ketone body +++, PH 5.5 and HbA1C 9.7%. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes complicated with upper respiratory tract infection.

The doctor gave him a comprehensive evaluation and made out the therapeutic schedule. In the first period of treatment, he was given the supportive treatment to treat the symptoms, reducing the blood sugar and controlling high blood pressure.
